New York based artist, Matthew Casanovas, tries to evoke story telling through the use of painting and printmaking. While most artists can be categorized into certain classifications, his art tends to work outside of existing categories, as it carefully dances between aspects of spontaneity and pre-existing expression. With a background of materials and techniques derived from old masters, his body of work is created often through the making of his own mediums, grounds, and paints. Matthew's main focus is on narrative, as he collects from folklore, sentimental memories, and present day stories to create a timelessness through unbounded mediums.
