Amanda Preske
Scientist-turned-Artist Amanda Preske started Circuit Breaker Labs to fuse her love of science with her need to create. Now, she also runs Because Science, DC's own science-themed gift shop and event space to celebrate the intersection of science and art.
What Inspired You to Make This?
I love science and I love art. I also think that a lot of people are scared of science because it's "hard," but aren't afraid of art because it's "easy" and accessible. Through the combination, we can get kids and adults asking questions and feeling curious without all the stigma of it being "hard." I also am a scientist by training and love all the beauty and silliness contained in it and am always trying to capture that through a funny greeting card or a quippy magnet.
