What Inspired You to Make This?
We got frustrated with traditional 3D scanners that come with a hefty (most of the times prohibitive) initial investment and lock you into the hardware that was current at the time of production. Even an average Cloud Rack today far surpasses the processing power of the Single Board Computers typically built into most 3D scanners. Additionally, the camera in your smartphone is likely superior to those found in many expensive 3D scanner boxes. This high cost barrier is neither maker-friendly nor conducive to widespread adoption of this essential technology. That's why we created the ASCAND 3D scanning platform. It processes standard videos of an object rotating on a turntable using our innovative magic sleeve. Upload these videos to our platform, and then download the resulting color point clouds or meshes. These can be used for 3D printing, Blender projects, or any other creative applications you envision.
