Mozeart Designz Presents: The Social Networking Project
Home: California, United States
The Social Networking Project The Social Networking Project comprises glass sculpture pieces created through live demonstrations, fostering community collaboration and genuine connections. Using flameworking techniques with borosilicate rods, I initiate the process by establishing a robust base structure. Precut glass rods of various sizes and lengths are made available to the audience, passersby, or onlookers who can sign a safety waiver and choose a piece. Donning safety glasses, participants position their rods on the structure wherever they please. I then skillfully weld the glass rods to the base, with each person contributing in about three minutes. Throughout this interactive art-making experience, I engage with the community, learning their names, exploring their familiarity with

Art has been my lifelong passion, starting in fifth grade and maturing through Fine Arts in high school and Graphic Design in Atlanta. My journey led to the world of glass, culminating in a high-tech research and development position in Palo Alto. Now in Santa Cruz, I run a flame studio, pioneering glass prototyping and gallery art work.

With our society changing so rapidly and interactions increasingly mediated through social media, I often wonder whether people are genuinely connecting or just mindlessly scrolling through their feeds. I wanted to create something that fosters meaningful connections in a literal sense. Through this project, I aim to build authentic personal connections by collaboratively creating glass sculptures. Participants not only trust me with a hot torch but also engage in learning and experiencing something new. Together, we create a one-on-one bond and a lasting memory, moving beyond the superficial, illusory connections of social media to forge real, tangible relationships.
